Soul Food & Eye Candy: BRUNCH

Hey glamDOLLS welcome to the Brunch portion of Soulfood & Eye Candy. Our meal of choice is drum roll pleeeeeease Chicken and Waffles. I chose chicken and waffles because it easily my favorite brunch meal. Like if chicken and waffles is on the menu I'm probably getting it but I always feel like something is missing and its usually something with the chicken. Now beware I'm no ones chef but I like to think I can a lil' bit. I don't measure much (unless I am baking that ish can go left REAL fast). Use your own discretion, common sense & ask if you have any questions. Other than that enjoy girlfriend!

Don't forget to make your favorite mimosas & throw a strawberry on the rim to make fancy!

Chicken Wings/ Breast (tenders)
Mustard
Cumin
Season salt
Salt
Pepper
Turmeric
Garlic
Onion powder
Adobo
Flour

Waffles
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon white sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Heat deep fryer to 375. After cleaning your meat you want to pat dry with a paper towel. I also like to sit my chicken in a strainer if it was frozen to help dry it out.

Next you want to season your chicken, since we are using mustard you don’t have to go over board, the mustard will give A LOT of flavor.

Once your meat is seasoned, you want to add your mustard just enough to coat the chicken.

While that’s marinating get your waffle mix together so its ready to go.

Beat eggs in large bowl with hand beater until fluffy. Beat in flour, milk, vegetable oil, sugar, baking powder, salt and vanilla, just until smooth. Preheat waffle iron.

Back to the chicken- I like to use the plastic bag method to flour my meat, I find that I use less flour. I start with about ¼ of a cup of flour and add a few pieces. Shake, add more meat and flour as needed.  Place chicken in oil (once its ready) and cook for roughly 15 minutes. This depends on how many pieces you are cooking at once and how big the chicken is. It is always best to check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer, it should be atleast 160 degrees.

Your waffle iron should be ready by now. Spray iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown.

Now that all the food is cooked make sure you plate it real cute and fancy so you can post pictures of your master piece.
